Dear all,
bizarre one for you...
The van has been behaving itself perfectly for the first 2500 miles of our trip but, after a week of being left in a garage, the headlights have started playing up..
here's the story..

left and right here are as you look at the van from head on (sorry i know thats confusing!)

with the ignition off:
side light position works as expected
dipped beam position: left side sidelight only. right side full beam
full beam position: left side full beam and right side, side only (opposite of dipped position)

With the ignition on..
side light position. left side sidelight right side dipped
diped position: left side sidelight. right side fll beam
full beam position: left full right sides.

we are a little flummoxed. we have waded throught the wiring diagrams in the ol' haynes and we think we are getting somewhere but we dont really want to have her in bits in some carpark in croatia too many times in the next few days!!
the van is an 89 model rascal so am i right in thinking that that the diagram to use is the one without a cat converter??

many thanks for your help as ever,

Marcus

Could be the light switch stalk, they have been known to play up, check for bad earths & fuses first.
Yes your van will be the not cat wiring diagram, hope this helps.

I also had a very similar problem and It also turned out to be a bad earth with my fog light that for some reason messed up my headlights! If you added any new interior lights to the van for your trip check them over as well as I´m sure that was the root of my problem. My van was wired up by a complete monkey.  Good luck!
