Well this is my 1st morning back at work after completing a mammouth round trip of the UK in our Rascal. I think 1200 miles in total getting home at 3am this morning! We spent two days camping in and around the Manchester area during the filming, which was interesting and the people were great. I was a little peed off to discover that the van had been damaged during the filming resulting in quite a large dent in the NS loading door, but alas I had'nt clocked it before leaving the set on Friday Sad. From Manchester we decided to pop in and visit relatives in Edinburgh lol, Sunday a quick whizz round the local area for some piccys at the Forth Rail bridge and Edinburgh castle before heading south again calling in at Newcastle for yet more piccys. The van behaved impecibly crusing along at 55-65mph untill the last couple of hundred miles where again it started spluttering badly after slowing down and trying to acclerate again, this got progressivley worse to the point of us crawling round the M25 at 35mph. Luckily it was 2am and traffic wasn't too bad! It became an irritating intimitant fault for the duration of the jouney Sad. We have had this problem before and I think its the carb! Ive stripped it before and its clean inside! so not quite sure what to do next?

Lol Hello  matey  Smiley This morning when I had to get up for work at 6:30 I may well have agreed with you! I am absolutely shattered, but it was good fun and the van drew loads of attention where ever we went  Grin. I totally stripped and rebuilt the carb today so will see if the running improves. I checked out Wrexham on the map when I was in Manchester and I saw what you meant about popping over as it wasn't that far, would have been cool to meet up too. Well pillows are calling so catch ya later  Smiley

I had a similiar problem a while back.  I got a new carb from Derek which enabled me to get the idle to around 1000 rpm (impossible before), then adjusted the timing.  If you can get the van to idle at a point before the vacuum advance kicks in then I would check the timing first before messing around too much with anything else.  The other thing to check is that your points didn't seize up over your journey.  Good luck.

Hiya  Smiley Ive stripped and cleaned every part on the carb, all inner pipework has been blown through etc. I can get it to run beautifully until it gets up to temperature, then it starts spluttering when pulling away. I need to investigate the distributor now and have already noticed that the little lubrication pad has been removed/lost by previous owner/s. I would dearly love to fit electronic ignition and be done with it, but money as always is tight and it will have to wait a month or so, if I can find someone who has it in stock.
