It is a bump stop. It should not have a, rubber pipe? through it. Perhaps this is a cable tie holding it on. I have s/h ones. New they are no longer obtainable. Due to there scarcity a s/h one is £20.00 including u.k. postage. They are very difficult to fit properly. I.e. getting the metal fixing plate under the "U" bolts. Derek.

Some M.o.T examiners insist on them being in place. Don`t know why. Derek.

On my pick up I used new Land Rover Defender Rectangular ones, only bent over the metal tabs, and drilled through the 'leg' of the chassis.
Upside down bumpstops but do the job, and MOT man has never commented!

Thinking about the bump stops. I guess the danger is off the leave springs going over centre with excess load & either jamming there or the leave spring breaking. With the bump stops in place this cant happen so keeps the M.oT. examiner happy. Derek.
