Just joined the forum. We have a Bedford Bambi, with us for around 6 months now. Previous owner for 10 years, and the one before that for another 10. Doing some light restoration at the moment - mainly the camper bit, but I have completed an electrical overhaul on the lump, and she is going the best now, since we had it.  Bambi in the snow! I am basically a Saab guy, though. Three in the fleet, including a 1972 Saab 96 with just 12,000 on the clock.   Hope to be able to learn from, and contribute to the forum. Bambi is a lot of fun to drive, though, I must say.

A hoarder? Guess what?  We bought another one! This one is bodily and mechanically immaculate - including the spring mounts which have just been removed completely, and a custom, thicker grade panel and metalwork, welded.

two bambis thats just greedy but twice the fun.i am thinking of getting a bambi to go with my rascal danbury love all the rascal based campers i want one of each if i could afford it.

My Bambi needs some loving. I bought it but realise I don't have the skills to restore it to a condition that it deserves  Atleast its no longer rusting and the rotten sections and leaks are covered up. I am thinking it will have to be a Tim Thornton job, it's an excellent vehicle with only 30k on the clock but really needs the best from the best.

Well, we briefly had both, but tin worm really had got the best of Bambi 1, which is why we jumped at buying Bambi 2, which was up for sale in much better condition, but with a blown head gasket. Bambi 1 donated engine, and most other salvageable bits, now take up most of the shed! The scrapper beckoned for what remained of Bambi 1, but, fortunately, a very lucky little girl, somewhere, now has an excellent playhouse  Kudos and many, many thanks to our great friend, the genius that is Tim Thornbury at bedfordrascal.com

We all got to start somewhere, bambi's are quite a simple vehicle to work on/fix, get a haynes manual & read! Remember, no cat, no ecu or even electronic ignition to worry about!

Except our first one, TBH. It really was too far gone. Lots of air, and very little metalwork, in the vital areas, and a lot of bodging. We'd tried to saved her, but no. It really was appalling, and I was genuinely shocked. I wondered how she had passed previous MoT's. Something fishy had been going on. Everywhere I looked, she had been got at, which made me sad, and angry. Mrs Zap was devastated, at the time. The only viable, financial option. But, hey ho, Bambi 1 lives on.

Oh, only if you had seen mine! Huge section of floor missing, about 8 inches on the passenger side between the wheel arch and the floor support beam. Wheel arches mind you went to sand on touch, plus, ours had loads of other 'non factory' vents around the foot well. I suppose the 'extra' vents were really good for drying wet boots after a walk in the highlands trouble is I'm more into restoration them motification!! I've no idea how to re-attach the plastic front grill though, whatever metal it used to screw into is long gone! Anyway, that is only the beginning, I could go on all day!! The job isn't done by any stretch of the imagination but I will persevere. She's a really good Bambi all the extra bells and whistles, propane heating, steadies, luton window, waste water tank. zig, T.V attenna system, and leaking roof
