Well folks. With the worst rascal luck in the world our 2nd rascal the beloved rascal pop top camper 'rasca2ee' was invloved in a slide and crash incident last weekend on black ice.

Some of you might have seen the pictures that we have previously posted of our white rascie camper and then the blue van that we bought to make into a camper when the white one was written off- also folowing a crash.

In the summer we towed both vans down to Derrick and he did a fantastic job of putting the pop top in the new blue van and also gave the engine a good seeing to! Since then we haven't done anything further conversion wise due to moving house (twice!).

Sooooo, as a result we have a pop top roof camper van with windows to the side doors. We also have all the inside camper units from the original rascal camper- this includes the cupboard, seats, lift up sink unit and cooker with original covers etc plus other bits and pieces for the roof etc. We used the camper as it was throughout our summer festies with a double mattress on the floor and just popped the top up and used a big tent to the side for sitting and socialising in Smiley

Here's the bad news.... the recent accident caused some damage to the right hand drivers side front incuding bending the drivers door out and squishing the front so that it was rubbing on the wheel and we had to bang it back to be able to drive it home. Also, when we started driving we noticed that it was overheating and so we have presumed that the radiator has cracked and would need replacing. Everything else was fine until we had this bump. We couldn't believe it. First of all our first rascal gets written off, they we pay loads to tow them to Derrick who does and grand job on swapping the roofs and sorting them out and then somebody slides into us on the ice- nothing we could do Sad

Sooo, basically we just cannot afford to pour anymore money into the lil fella. New house putting on the pressure and so we have no choice but to sell him how he is.

I will put photos up here of him and the damage that there is. Derrick might like to comment on the state of the van, he seemed to think it was in pretty good nick in the summer and we have hardly driven it at all bar going to west wales for a few festies.

This is a fantastic project for somebody with the time and skills to be able to do up this little van properly.

I just hope he goes to someone who loves him as much as us Sad

If anyone wants to ask any questions please go ahead.

Yours very sadly,

Hi Bryan,

It's a difficult call and so that's why were going to do an ebay auction.

Weighing up the insurance price we had when our first camper was written off (£2250) and the price that the insurance company put on the written off camper for when we bought it back (£600) plus the cost for the blue van for making into a camper (£1250) and the fact that we have already transported the whole bally lot to Essex and had the pop roof put in and have all the original rascal camper insides to go back in.... we would be really happy to get about £1250ono (reasonable). This has already cost us loads and we know we could make considerably more if we just had it straightened out and put the insides in but we just can't face having to do all that and shelling out more cash when we have been through so much with these rascals already Sad Plus, we had a nightmare trying to get anyone to even look at fixing the previous rascal round here (Soth Wales) and that's a major factor in why it ended up being written off by the insurance (guttingly Derrick said he could probably have repaired it as he had seen worse!).

We are away at the mo' but have tasked ourselves to get some good photos up here by Tuesday and sorted for sale next week.

We have actually just bought a new vehicle (Toyota Townace) and so need to sell this and our peugot asap to cover that...

Hope this is useful Smiley

Hopefully these links will work to the van- the blue and white one is it without it's roof and the white one is the one that has 'donated' it's roof and insides for the blue and white one! Just the roof has been put in plus the wooden floor that all the insides bolt too and the holes have been made in the floor for the sink etc. Plus we varnished the sink unit/cupboard in the summer so it's all neat and tidy Smiley
